Anti-Bullying
We are: Nurturing
We do no tolerate Bullying at Cavendish. We work tirelessly to make sure that every child's voice is heard and if there are concerns, that we act on it quickly. We make sure that every child has at least one adult that they feel confident to talk to. We also have our Worry Monster that children can use if they feel they need to write down their worry privately. Our Pupil Parliament members also act as Anti-Bullying Ministers and make sure that any concerns are addressed quickly. Finally, we have Buddies on the playground who make sure that everyone is safe and happy on the playground. Our full Anti Bullying policy can be found under the 'Policies' tab.
If a child reports possible bullying, the first thing Cavendish does is have a meeting about those children. All staff involved will be approached for their opinion and what they have witnessed. The decision to report the case as either 'Possible Bullying' or 'Bullying' will be made. If the case is classed as 'Possible Bullying' the children involved will be monitored and any further incidents will be dealt with seriously. If the case is classed as 'Bullying' a full report will be written and parents invited in to discuss next steps. All staff will be made aware of the case and the children involved will be monitored weekly. We are proud to say that there has only been 1 incident of confirmed bullying at our school in 2024-2025 and the case was closed after 2 months because no further incidents took place. We are confident that we act swiftly and appropriately.
How do we support the victim and the perpetrator?
We feel it is important to support everyone involved in a Bullying incident. This is because the perpetrator will be acting this way for a reason and will have unmet needs. It is also important to support the victim emotionally and to make sure that they are confident at Cavendish in the future. All children involved in a bullying incident will work one to one with our Learning Mentor (Mrs Clarke) to discuss their experiences and how the future can be more positive. If specialist support is required, this will be applied for.
Our number one aim at Cavendish is for pupils to be safe and happy
